I have a humidifier that I use when she sounds a bit stuffy (my little one is 4 months old) But I rarely use it. I do have an air purifier...only because my house is really dusty and I have lots of animals and allegies myself.

You really do not need these items, but I do suggest that if you live in a colder climate you might want to have a humidifier because the heater is always going and your skin tends to get a dry and cracked. Also, having an air purifier will eliminate some of the odors that go along with baby, especially as the little one gets older and the diapers start getting smelly. That smell tends to linger even when you take it directly outside, so I do keep a purifier in his room running all the time on low or med. Works wonders for the air quality we were lacking. It wasnt so bad when he was really little but has gotten much worse now that he is 1.

A humidifier is good to have if the baby is congested or sick. I don't think the air purifier is necessary.

not unless you have mold issues or air problems I live in an apartment and when the baby is newborn and just home from the hospital it takes about two weeks for them to get used to your home they will be mucousy and stuffy something that really scared me at first I wish the doctor would have told me after a four hour trip to the er b/c i thought my baby couldnt breathe. They will get used to the air but if you take out the humidity they could get too dry and take longer to get used o the air.

You will need a humidifier if the baby get's sick with a upper respitory infection or a sinus cold. It really helps clear out the mucus so they can breathe better.

I would say it depends on what kind of heating system you have at home... we used it a lot in our old apartment as the heat made the air so dry, now we moved and the baby is 9 months old, so we just turn the heat down at night and don't use it.

I wouldn't buy one unless you wind up needing it. We didn't buy one for my daughter's room but then she wound up having asthma and her doctor said a humidifier might help so we bought one. But I wouldn't spend the money if you might not even need it.
