Libya was once an Italian colony, as was Somaliland, what is now the autonomous northern section of Somalia. Ethiopia was also invaded and occupied by Italy for a period.

Between WW I and WW II Italy had two colonies in North Africa. They both wound up forming one country and it is now called Libya.
