When first got my car I told my self I would not because its too dangerous incase I drop the cigarette. But after a while I was always pulling over to have a smoke and it took ages to get anywhere, so now I do.

I'm a smoker, and I will admit that I have tried smoking and driving at the same time, but I prefer holding a cigarette in my left hand so the ash used to fall all over the gear stick and make a mess of the car, so I tried holding the cigarette in my mouth when changing gear, but then got smoke in my eyes, so now I only smoke when I'm stationary.
Smoking while driving has now, as of from the end of September 2007, become illegal in England.

I dont smoke or drive but i hate it! if the driver is smoking the car is too confined (even with the windows open!) the smoke just flies back into the car! It also doesnt look very nice to see someone with a cigarette hanging out of their mouth and trying to turn the wheel and use the gearstick...it always looks like they are rushing changing the gears because the cigarette is burning their mouths!!! lol :)

sorry i know that wasnt your question but i just thought i'd share my opinion! :)

I was working third shift and just got off work.I dropped my cigarette between my legs and I couldn't get it.There was no where for me to pull over and I was on a road at 45mph.I burned A hole into my pants before I could stop.I swore I would never do that again.I had to have a smoke after that one.

The first thing I do when I get in the car is have a cig. Unless I have someone with me that doesnt smoke, but boy is it a long drive!

Of course. I said the same thing when i got a new car. "I'm not smoking in my car." Two weeks later my car became an ashtray. And it's more tempting because your just sitting there and when you smoke it seems like your getting to your destination a lot quicker than when you don't smoke.

Smoke but don't drive. I suppose there is a risk but you sound like a safe driver. Weird get done for using mobiles, eating but not heard of smoking. Depends where you live. I'm UK.

In NZ the driver side is on the right, so I can't smoke and drive at the same time cuz I can't steer with my left hand
