McDonald's operated for a very long time as the biggest fast food conglomerate in US and Asia. A good example of macro environment would be the movie "Supersize Me". It had a huge impact on McDonald's and what they did to change the "obesity" issue that they supposedly had no control over after the movie came out, and with countless lawsuits against them for causing obesity to Americans - something they still adamantly stand firm that they have no cause of doing.
Now McDonald's offers 'healthier' choices on its menus and no longer offers super-sized meals. They also offer baked rather than fried options.
