It's not specifically ABC. It's a strike by the Writers guild of all people who write thew shows for daytime, nighttime (like Jay Leno), for movies, etc.
Most of the soaps have enough material to last for a few weeks as they shoot ahead. Also, movie shoots are still okay as there are scripts that haven't been shot yet.
The first casualties of this strike, however, are the shows like the Tonight Show and others. They already started showing reruns.
The strike itself is about the writers trying to get more residuals from sales of DVDs,s, tapes, etc that are shown on the Internet and sold in stores. Right now, they get only a few cents. They want more.
This is similar to a strike that happened about 20 years ago.

This is not an ABC strike. This is a strike authorized by The Writer's Guild. It affects all movies, televsion shows, etc. It all depends how many scripts they already have on hand. The late night talk shows who tape live have already been shut down. Ellen has shut down her show because she wants to support the writers. Soap Operas may be the next to be effected because they only shoot 2 weeks in advance. Shows like CSI, Law & Order, etc. may be okay until Dec. or Jan.

It's not just ABC, it's the entire Writer's Guild that's gone on strike. Soaps are taped in advance, so they won't be affected unless it goes on for much longer than expected -- ABC has scripts written to last through the new year.

The writer's guild has gone on strike due to contract negotiations. It won't impact the soaps yet as they have stock piled some scripts that will hopefully last thru all this. I am HUGE GH fan and don't want to miss a minute of what is happening now!!!

all shows on tv besides reality ones are going to be effected once they've played the ones they already have written and taped then there won't be any new shows and most will be re runs. the last time they striked it lasted over 3months. they want to get paid for interent shows cause all the studios are and it's not fair.
