If the device takes two AAA batteries, remove one battery and stick a paperclip in so that the two battery contact points are connected. The device will run on just one battery, and you will end up extending overall battery life by running just one at a time.

Throw it in the freezer until you're ready to use it.

And DON'T wrap them in foil - the two poles will have a conductor and the batteries will short out and die.

I also heard from this guy, (and this is EXTREMELY dangerous), that if you take an old lamp, cut and expose the wires, and then touch them to the ends of the battery while it's plugged in for ONE second, it can recharge the battery. BUT IT COULD EXPLODE AND SHOWER YOU WITH MOLTEN ACID - DON'T DO IT - I just want the points.

When they're just about to die..take them out and rub an eraser hard across both sides a few times..that extends the life for a few minutes at least.

Strange..but it works..

Wrap them in aluminum foil and place in the freezer or buy a charger and charge periodically.

It does not help to add an A. Don't use it as often? Turn off the flashlight when you aren't using it? Buy alkaline?
