Please don't purchase them solely to use for a project because Guinea Pigs are wonderful companions.
An interesting experiment: Guinea Pigs like companionship of other Guinea Pigs.
Set up different types of mazes.
See how long it takes the pigs to locate each other.
Guinea pigs are really smart.

Testing toxic substances. Guinea pigs have a very low tolerance of toxins and infections. They tend to die PDQ when given something rather nasty!
Therefore they are pretty accurate indicators that a new drug has possible toxic side effects.
There are other methods, just as indicative, which can be used, so there is little justification for their use in this respect......... except they are cheap to buy and maintain.......
