Someone said earlier that MLB is going to have instant replay on fly balls that they aren't sure whether they are foul or homeruns. Is that true? If so can I get info like a link to this please? Thank you!

So far, no one before me has gotten the answer right.

In short, the answer is no. All that has happened is Commissioner Bud Selig has asked the general managers whether they would like to see instant replay used to check on "boundary" calls: whether a batted ball actually cleared a wall in flight, whether a batted ball actually left the field in flight while fair or foul, or whether a batted ball was interfered with in flight by a spectator.

The general managers voted 25-5 in favor of instant replay for those instances.

Before instant replay for boundary calls can be implemented, however, the owners, players, and umpires must all approve. But before that can happen, Selig's office must approve and draft the proposal, which will go back to the general managers before going on to the owners, etc.

yeah. It was approved 25-5 at the general manager covention. But they can only use it for potential homeruns. Bud Selig is against it and he can either say yes or no. if he says yes, the commissiner office will make a proposal and the genaral managers will vote on the proposal. If he says no, the topic will be dropped. But I think he will say yes because 83% voted for it. I'm pretty sure next year will be the first year that we use instant replay. here's a good link

No No No No No

No it is NOT true. What is true is that 25 teams voted on possibly having it, but as of yet, the decision has not been made.

Now how did I get 2 thumbs down. No decision was made, it's up to Bub Selig, the Umpires Unions, and the players unions. So right now at 8:20 PM EST on November 06, 2007 there will be NO repeat NO instant replay next year. Tomorrow that might change but right now NO.

THE GM's DID NOT VOTE TO GET INSTANT REPLAY All they voted on was the possibility of exploring it. So basically all they did was vote that they MIGHT think about it. So anybody that's saying baseball is getting instant replay has no clue what they are talking about.

To Ryan R: The GM's DID NOT, I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ANYMORE, THEY DID NOT VOTE FOR INSTANT REPLAY. THEY VOTED TO MAYBE LOOK INTO THE POSSIBILITIES OF HAVING INSTANT REPLAY. They didn't even vote on looking into instant replay, they voted they MIGHT, MAYBE, PERHAPS (and any other synomyn you want to put there) look into it.

The managers are voting on it. I think that it is a 25-5 on favoring the limiting instant replay. After voting, they're going to present the vote to Bud Selig and it's up the him. Not yet offical yet if MLB will have instant replay. I hope not.

The gms are discussing having limited instant replay but the final decision is still up to Bud Selig. I hope not. Baseball wasn't meant to be played this way.

It is half true. The GMs voted 25-5 in favor, but now Selig has the chance to review the possibility and either say yes or say no. A good link is mlb.com.

Yes, it's true:

The GMs now need to convince Bud Selig, then come up with a formal proposal for the winter meetings.

The general managers voted 25-5, but it still has to be approved by the players and umpires.
