Through the looking glass of a cafe window,
the following scene I see
It's a daily occurrence and worthy of mention
as it involves insanity-

I'll call him the PRINCE of echoes
for the way that he cocks his head
as if hearing the screams
or residual dreams
of the living and the dead

He sits every day on the sidewalk
ogling each passerby
and the STRAWBERRY streaks
on his doughy soft cheeks
Is like blood on a darkening sky

Then, like clockwork, she apears
and our drama is nearly complete.
her neat fashion flair
and MERLOT red hair
lends LIFE to this murky dark street.

The prince, he gropes in his pocket,
and slowly gets to his feet,
then turns with dark malice
to this business suit Alice,
his intentions now plain and concrete

The knife, in the sun, gives a glimmer
as all witnesses vanish from sight
he stabs in a hurry
vith vigor and fury
unleashing his rage with spite.

Then, like always, he vanishes
leaving naught but a headline:
"Slasher claims ten,
And will strike again
lest someone does something this time!"

And me? What about me? you ask
Do you expect me to interfere?
'tis a divine show to see
with my CRULLER and tea
so I'll root for the slasher all year!!!
