Grady Sizemore got one? I haven't heard anything about his defense all year. I'm happy Youkilis got one though. David Wright, I'm sort of confused. Some people say he has good defense, some people criticize it. Well, I"m happy for him. What are your thoughts on this year's winners?

Reportedly Rowand and Francouer tied, which hasn't happened before (and rather underscores the folly of grouping all the outfielders into one big category).
Lot of first-time winners, which is a good thing to see.
I don't have a lot of commentary or objection to this year's winning class, because I don't have a great deal of regard for the GGs anyway, as the voting methodology is very flawed. No one here strikes me as being utterly bad defensively, though, so it appears to be at least a good-enough set of winners.
There is no meaningful causality between the votings, but if Rollins commanded enough attention this year to win the GG, he probably will stand well in the MVP returns as well, if his visibility was that high.

You gotta be kidding me...never heard of Grady Sizemore's defense? The guy patrols center field like a young Kennny Lofton...making great catch after great catch, as well as all the routine catches. Having watched Kenny and Grady, the only catch Grady doesn't make that Kenny always did is the one over the fence being brought back, otherwise Grady is every bit as good as Keny was in his prime. This guy was a blast to watch everyday...just proves that if you play in a small market, the large market fans dont have a clue...watch some other teams besides the Yankees and the Red Sox and you may see some great baseball!

As always, they're an absolute joke.
Troy Tulowitzki had the highest fielding percentage among NL shortstops, a range factor .5 points better than anyone else, and finished second in zone rating. Yet, Jimmy Rollins somehow gets the award? Same goes for David Wright, who didn't finish in the top half of third basemen by any defensive measure.
Again, the Gold Gloves prove themselves to be an absolute joke. I don't know any real baseball fans who give any credence to these things anymore.

David Wright made 21 Errors so he didn't deserve the Gold Glove.

Shocked Coco Crisp didn't get one!
Not sure who I'd ditch though! Hunter, Sizemore and Ichiro are defensive studs no doubt!
I just remember the ball in left-center where Lugo is raising his fist to celebrate and Coco isn't even in the picture yet! Suddenly, he dives in to make one of the best catches all year!
Perhaps I'm a biased observer (Sox Fan) but Crisp was a defensice monster for us this year!

I do not keep track of Fielding Stats, so I cannot be the judge of that. But I know for 1, Orlando Cabrera deserved his gold glove.

fairly greater effective than the AL selections. i think of Kemp deserved a Gold Glove. I do consider Zimmerman no longer getting one. I do think of that Kouzmanoff or maybe Pedro Feliz deserved it greater suitable than he did.

Im happy that Orlando Cabrera got one and finally got recognized for what he did this past season. He should of been an All Star but he got snubbed.

I'm also kind of confused about Grady Sizemore. Coco Crisp should of got it from Grady, I also haven't heard anything from Sizemore's "great" defense.
