I have a silver star made by my eldest son (37) and a snowman made from cotton wool and the inside cardboard of a toilet roll made by my youngest (35) when they were at nursery school. They come out every year and my sons always say not to use them, but I think they are really secretly pleased. They will never be thrown away.

I also have a model nativity scene that was made and given to me by a patient when I was nursing 15 years ago. It is knitted and has fabulous detail,3 kings, shepherds, Mary and Joseph, sheep donkeys and a tiny baby Jesus. It is amazing!

Sorry to those who lost their stuff in bad circumstances. It is really not about the article but the memories it brings up and they can't ever be taken away.

I have two ornaments that were on our family trees when I was growing up. Plus things that the boys made when they were in school....and things that both my mother and my husband's mother made. Our tree is very traditional, right down to the popcorn. Love putting it up each year....and hate having to take it down.
Nice question, Shan.

I have several things I have kept. I have a decorated tree
skirt sent to me from an internet friend. And I have a small
table top tree with a nativity scene that another internet
friend sent about six years ago.And complete with orna-
ments and lights. And a bubbling candle night light the person who sent me the tree skirt, also sent. I have
ornaments I've decorated in the past and often use. I also
have a special stuffed Santa dressed in the costume of
Britian I think, from a couple Christmas's ago. And a door
knob hanger with bells from many years ago as well. All of
my Christmas decor is from the time we moved north again.
I lost all that I'd had previously. So I had to start again with
everything new. But I have found some very nice 'one of a
kinds' at the Goodwill from Christmas season to Christmas
season. Sometimes they have some very special things
hand made that look like alot of work went into them. So I
have adopted them and treasure them, and display them.
I know that who ever had them previously would appreciate
that they were still bringing pleasure to another household.

Yes, I have a pressed glass Father Christmas that I remember on my Nan's tree when I was little. I am 62.
I also have a decoration that came from my great aunt in Canada when she sent me a present bought and gift wrapped in,I think, Eatons of Toronto.I must have been about 6 at the time and I just wanted to keep it. It still goes on the tree every year with the new, the old, the tasteful and the tasteless decorations!

We've got Christmas decorations both our daughters made when they were at school and all their cards they made too. We've got tree decorations that are from the 1950's and a Christmas tree Angel that has seen better days.....her head has been stuck back on so many times that it looks deformed now lol. We have started a new collection of school made ornaments and cards from our grandchildren. We have a snowman made from cotton wool and the inner tube from a toilet roll too!

Yes, several of our Christmas ornaments are ones we'd made through the years. I have a few my daughter (32) made when she was 3-4 in Head Start. I also have a Christmas card she gave me when she was small that says 'Merry Christmas Mommy' on the front and she signed it inside. Earlier this evening my husband and I were watching a Christmas video from when my daughter was 10. It had me in tears, it was so precious. These truly are treasures.

No sweetie, I lost all of my personal possessions in Tropical Storm Allyson about 5 years ago in Houston.
Even my most prized possession, which was a picture of a stick dog.....my dog Bear got lost in St. Petersburg, my son Travis had drawn up a lost dog poster, therefore the stick dog. Under neath the stick dog it read, have you seen my dog? It was so cute:~)
It's still here, in my heart though.
Memories, you've made me cry!!!
Pull it together, you old salty wench, haha
No, those of yours are awesome, I'm sure your sons look for them each year. When they have children, they probably have pointed them out.

I've got a little set square that my youngest son made in metalwork classes when he was twelve, and gave it to me as a Christmas present in 1970. I still think of it as the best one in the toolbox, although it is a bit rusty now.

Yes. We still have my nephew's reindeer. It was made from brown contruction paper, folded in a cone-like shape with a red yarn ball for the nose and movable eyes glued on. It was darling. I have a snowman that my son drew.
