You can get a free web site at many places .. Just google it.. Free web site. However the last post is correct you can not get your own .com for free. They said go and get a .com at godaddy.com .. That is probably the best .. and check around for hosting .. You can get the domain and hosting for as little as 21.00 a year.
I used free hosting for a while but came to realize that it is free for a reason. They make their money off pop ups and advertising.
I use the 3 dollar package because it gives you the online web builder.
BUT if you choose a dollar a month package then
godaddy.com - 8.99 a year for a domain
1 dollar a month for hosting
so your cost for a site with your own name with no pop ups is 21.00 a year
I say this because of the freebies that they offer.
Message boards, Blogs, Private pages and you do not have to know how to program.

Most ISP's (the company you get your internet from) offers free website hosting and access to it.
Using a free website editor (search for "free website editor") you can create a website, and UPLOAD it to your ISP.
This will then be viewable by anyone on the internet.
Domain names costs money, as do more professional tools, but you can show photos and talk about whatever you want if you use your ISP's free hosting.
There are also social networking sites such as myspace and facebook you can use to share photos and stories.
Lastly, there are free ONLINE websites out there that allow editing right from within your own browser.

If you are new, I would recommend to first try a free web host, like: http://ww3.runhosting.com/
It doesn't put ads even for free hosting plans. It has easy website builder, provides 2 free sub domains. I went for it by seeing the great features that it offers for free. I liked this host so much that I bought their paid hosting service just recently. Its worth trying.
