Boy Scouts have different groups:
Cub Scouts boys ages 6-10
Boy Scouts boys ages 10-18
Venture co-ed ages 14-21
Adult leadership open to men and women.
Funding from corporate donations, membership donations, and unit fund raising. Individual units (Packs, Troops, Crews) are paired with a sponsor; church, civic, fraternal or other organization.

Girls join a troop at one age, and stay with the same group of girls, program from kindergarten to college. No boys allowed, men strongly discouraged.
Funding from corporate donations, United Way, membership donations, cookie, nut sales.
Troops are organized by and belong to GSUSA corporation.

Both programs offer opportunities for children to grow in a "safe" environment. Boy Scouting geared to outdoor adventures, Girl Scouting can offer same, more geared to developing self-confidence in the girl.
