If you do not have your own bank account, you can only go to the bank it is written from to cash it (at a bank).

However, places like Wal-Mart and the grocery store will often cash a payroll check

You will need a bank account to cash it at a bank or open a bank account so that you can cash all your checks in the future.

Most grocery stores will cash like Piggly Wiggly, Winn Dixie or you can go to a check cashing place, but they charge you a small fee.

It's easier if you have a bank account with the bank itself. That way you can just deposit the check and withdraw the money from it at a later date.

If you don't have a bank account and you want to cash the check, then you need like two forms of identification (ie. driver's license, passport etc.).

Congrats on your first check!!

You have to go to the bank it came from or sign it over to another bank for them to cash it...or just open an account and tell them you want to deposit it...

Go to their bank. Take your Id. Their bank name and address should be on it if not call your employer and ask where they bank at. If you cash it at their bank you will not be charged. :-)
Congrads!
