Why have they not done the one thing they were suppose to do . Going from electing republicans to democrats is just not getting the job done anymore .
Politicians have taken to outright deception and fraud as far as I am concerned .
Why when we elected the democrats have they not pushed the war issue much harder and gotten some results .

DO you feel as cheated and abused as I do .

Super Tuesday is close to the answer. Voters went to the polls to elect the House and/or Senate. Some were very much against the War. However, the Democrats they elected last year have a problem: Democrats don't have an answer to ending the war, which is exactly what happened to the Republicans in 1968. Eisenhower, on the other hand, came into the White House in 1953 and announced the U.S. had won the war.

So, Super Tuesday may be right, an elected Democratic President may not know how to declare victory.

Democrats are not the magic wand. They cannot immediately undo whatever Republican-Neocons along with the Bush administration created during the past 7 years. Many experts are saying that it will take 25-30 years to bring US back as it was before Bush. In addition there are still a big number of Republicans in both houses which deliberately and on purpose create different obstacles for Democrats. I'm not defending Democrats, but that is how it is. I myself cannot understand one thing, why Democrats still keep funding Iraqi war? In order to end this war all they have to do is to cut funding for same and they can do this without Republicans.

Well, they could have impeached Bush. Then we'd have Cheney in the White House. Feel Better?

They could have impeached Cheney. Then we'd have Pelosi in the White House. Democrat, but do you feel better now?

That would have seemed self-serving even to the Democratic voting base.

The impeachment process would have stopped everything in it's tracks. The war would still be going on , but no-one paying any attention to it at all.

The majorities in the House and the Senate aren't very large and any meaningful legislation would and has been watered down and now it's being vetoed by Bush, even when a vast majority of the American people are for the legislation. There isn't quite enough support for veto overrides at this point.

These are excuses and not very good ones. But it is American political reality. Next time make sure everyone goes out to vote. Maybe someone will get a clearer majority.

Remember, that's what the Republicans wanted when Clinton was in office. They got their wish and look what that got us!

You have to remember there are ALOT of Republicans in both the Senate and The House of Representatives! Also, remember that if the Democrats and it would take alot of Republicans pulled the financial plug on Iraq, alot of Military Personnel would have been in Iraq without support! Now think if it was your son or daughter over there and their government did that! And don't just blame the Democrats! There are plenty of Republicans who want us out of there as well! Put the blame on Mr. THE BUCK STOPS HERE, on Mr. BRING IT ON! The blame for this war's continuation is on the shoulders of President George BUSH!

Anyone who has been briefed on the war seems to have a turn on opinions. A document posted by Nancy Palosi when the 110th Congress began stated that the number one thing was to put the Republicans on the defensive. This would explain the pushing of the envelope on the SCHIPs program and several others that followed. It is a game of "King of the Hill" and won't end until the citizens of this country put a stop to it.

They haven't ended the war because Democrats don't have enough votes to override Bush's veto.

All the Republicans are standing with Bush. They won't vote to override Bush's veto of any bill.

It's the Republicans who are blocking it, not the Dems.

Politics are playing on ppls emotions. You must know that if (God help us) if a Democrat gets in the White House they will NOT be able 2 pull the troops out immediately as they promise to do. Some of them are even brave enough to acknowledge...so you need to pick more issuse to place your vote on.

Neither did the Republicans in 1966 when they were elected because of people's disapproval of Lyndon Johnson and the Vietnam War, but they still elected Republican President Richard Nixon in 1968, and it still didn't end for another few years after that.

Democrats have tried but the thing to remember is that Bush still has the veto power, so until a Democrat is in the White House too Congress doesn't have enough power to end this war (although it's close). If you're mad at this war not being over with soon enough, blame Bush and put a Democrat in the White House in '08
