im doing a review packet for a test and i cant find the ACTUAL definition for
1. element
2. compound.

1. An element is a pure substance that cannot be decomposed to a simpler substance by chemical means. (That lets out any nuclear reactions by bombardment, fission, or decay.)

2. A compound is a pure substance made up of two or more elements that has physical and chemical properties different from those elements. (People don't have to be worried about being blown up by hydrogen because it's in water.)
