I need help people. I have some land, and i think its a trapezoid, although i dont need to know the height. Im trying to work out the area in square meters. Heres the info: Side A is 34.5 meters long, Side B is 25 Meters long, Side C is 37 meters and side D is 25.5 meters long. Whats the total area in Square Meters?

Draw a scale drawing of it, say, 1cm=1metre. Draw a grid of 1cm squares over it and count 'em!

The area is not a true trapezoid. Therefore the angles between sides is needed for an accurate calculation. However here is a close approximation, based on the assumption of a right angle between sides A and B:

875.045 sq. metres.

This is based on the calculation of the main square, the two narrow triangles at the side and bottom plus the small residual approximate square at the bases of the two triangles.

Accuracy will increase by the measurement of the angles between sides. This would permit accurate calculation of the areas of the triangles and the minor rectangle.

Break it up into bits that you can work the area out for then add them up eg triangles and rectangles. Draw it out roughly and label each bit so you don't miss any or double count.

I leave you to do the sums
