my mare at about two or three mouthfuls of winter rye grass seed. Should i call the vet or will she be ok? i need to know soon incase it will make her colic

Probably no problem. It is not the grass seed itself that is dangerous to your horse, but rather the chemicals that are mixed on it to prevent it from germinating too soon, and to prevent fungus from making it incapable of sprouting. Remember, it is not a feed source, it is a grass seed that has been treated to prevent it from rotting in the bag. It won't give her colic.

It could make her colic. Watch for diahreah and loss of appetite. She probably will have a belly ache at least. You need to call the vet and ask for something to give her now to help her digest it.
