chips cooked in beef dripping, walking for miles without an adult from about 6 years old, riding on the side step of our neighbours old vw beetle, anyone remember clackers? good for the odd broken wrist or black eye lol. buying a single (1 ciggie from the corner shop) getting a whack round the back of the head from your teacher or a policeman. sliding down a snowy hill in an old tin bath (couldnt afford a sledge), lol wish you hadnt asked this i could go on forever.

As kids, we were allowed to play with mercury and eat paint chips (lead).
My Grandparents used to mist the porch with DDT while we were all there waiting for the barbecue.
Bicycle helmets didn't exist.
We tucked the seat belts behind the cushions to keep them out of the way (before seat belt laws).
Dad used to put us on his lap and let us 'drive'.
We had teeter-totters, merry-go-rounds, tetherball, kickball, dodge ball, marbles, trampolines and many other dangerous and mentally denigrating activities at school.
We used lard instead of these trans-fat free and taste free fats they insist are good for us these days.
Lye was soap, not poison.
Phosphates were used to clean things and they worked. Try finding phosphates these days.
Aqua net burned up the ozone layer.
Do I miss this stuff? Except for lard and good tasting food, not really.

I miss the freedom that I enjoyed when I was a wee lassie. I could stay out playing until it wiz dark, and many miles from home. Kiddies nowadays are restricted tae playing right ootside the hoose or not at all!!! Parents are so paranoid aboot child safetey, that most of the time, they urr quite happy tae let the wee yins stay in all day farting aboot on their computers!!!

All Medicines were free to everyone....Now too dear for some.
Smack a Child.....The way some children behave it needs to happen.
Drive without a Seat-belt...Much easier.
Drive out of town without any speed limit.

Quite honestly I'm a bit too old to be wanting to do those things myself, but so sorry my kids can't. They are missing so much fun and so many freedoms, just because of the world we live in today, so sad, Oh well!!

Exciting experiments in school science, like dropping sodium into water. Now I think kids only get to see videos of these experiments. Takes all the fun away.
