The War in Iraq is a horrible tragedy and Bush & Cheney should be brought up on charges.

That being said...how is the US a bully?

Are you talking about when we were the only nation in the world to help the genocide in Somalia? How about when we went to end the genocide in Bosnia? What about when we were asked by the Saudis and Kuwatis to protect them from Saddam in the first gulf war? What about when we bailed out the French in Indochina? How about when we protected the world from the Soviet Union during the Cold War? How about when we gave more money then any other nation to aid Indonesia during the Tsunami? How about the billions we spend out of our own pockets to help foreign nations through the World Bank? How about when we helped save the world from the Japanese and German armies during WWII and then spent billions to help rebuild Europe?

The US does more for the world then any other nation on Earth. Did we make a horrible, tragic mistake in Iraq. You bet. But I will tell that we are right to be in Afghanistan (who openly supported the Al-Qaeda terrorists that attacked us).

Until China thinks they can defeat us militarily. Who knows how long that's going to take??? It's sad a nation that was once a shining beacon for the world has degenerated into a greedy, self-serving few, while our country, our dignity, our image, and our integrity are in one sorry state of affairs around the world. We were once a great country and in many ways we still are, our government is insane and we allow it to continue. I don't think terrorism is our greatest threat, I think it's China. I also think Taiwan in some way shape or form will be the reason China and the US may indeed go to war. It won't be the kind of war we're seeing in Iraq, it will be WAR!!! I have absolutely nothing against Chinese people, nothing, but I sure don't trust your government, it's worse then ours.

not much longer.
by the way, are you excited about the idea of us NOT being the bully.
Guess what, there is ALWAYS going to be a bully. right now, we are at the tail end of that. our economy is going down the tubes, our military is over extended, and once Paki falls apart, or China makes a deal with Saudi or Iran ect for oil we will be toast. the bottom is about to fall out, and i am afraid that the real reason oil is going up is b/c the big oil companies know that the bill from china and the m e is about to arrive.
and we can't pay it.

You really think the US is alone in so-called 'bullying?' Give me a break ... what a convenient thought process you have ...

If you're going to come down on the United States then you also have to include

1. The Russian Republic for its continued military and political presence in Azerbaijan, Uzbektistan, Cheychnia, Upper Mongolia, and the Ukraine.
2. Syria for its four attempted invasions of Israel, and its interfeirance in the sovereign government of Lebanon.
3. China for the annexation and occupation of Tibet
4. Pakistan and India for their continued conflict over the Kashmir Valley region
5. Liberia for the invasion and continued arms flow to illegal militias inside Nigeria, Congo, and Sierra Lione.
6. Indonesia for militarily occupying neighboring Equatorial Guiana.
7. France for sending French Foreign Legion troops to fight wars in Algeria, Morocco, and Tunsia.

the list could go on and on ...

What the US is doing isn't right, but you can't really make the argument they're unique ... every country on the planet has done what the United States is doing at one point or another in its history.

_______

Two thumbs down ... ? I guess the far left doesn't like it when someone can intelligently point out how full of crap they are ...

In your eyes we are a "bully".In the eyes of others we are their salvation.Don't presume to lecture me Missy;I've traveled the world and have seen first hand how decent people of the world feel toward us.We are NOT reviled, nor are we fawned upon.We are treated with the respect we have earned over the last 200+ years.

I don't think there is another year left to the count, I think their time is running out.
The fact is that there are a lot of problems arising within, and the illusion of power is fading, and that's about all that kept their heads above water. They're vulnerable now, and this vulnerablility will likely only become more severe with time.

We'll see, who knows? It's just my hypothesis.

Wingshooter serves as the perfect example of typical arrogant fool that tries to keep the illusion alive. Stop lying to yourself. And a small reminder: Let the right hand know not what the left is doing.....

You are giving us way too much credit. There are bullies everywhere. Some worse than us, believe it or not. Our people are not, for the most part, forced to eat bugs and drink dirty water because of our military, mining and drilling interests.

Look at Africa. Look at Russia for goodness sake. North Korea. Even Saudi Arabia isn't too great a place if you're on the bottom of the social ladder. China has labor camps and forced abortions. It just goes on and on unfortunately.

The USA is far from perfect. Preemptive war is certainly a stupid foreign policy (afterall who can now point to us with our weapons of mass destruction and call us dangerous), and that makes me ill.

Other countries do have us outclassed in the bully business.

Either we are a weak worthless power that allows other like Saddam to destroy its people or we have the will to do something about it. If we went in and stopped the slaughter of a million people in Rwanda, there are people who would call that being a bully. Self-loathing doesn't change the fact that we are the most powerful source of good in the world.

Wow, here is a country that has poured money, people, and equipment all over the world in a time of disaster. Remember the huge earthquake in Iran, the tsunami, Central America, AIDS in Africa, and on and on. Doesn't sound like a bully to me. Sounds to me like a country that rocks!
