It's easy man like 1/2 hour - once you've done it..

Get your self a repair book - Chilton's repair manual.

There is a cheaper version - Haynes - just not as good.

Sometimes in a pinch you can use some brake cleaner - or - carb cleaner - and get it working for a while longer.

i had a 95 chevy blazer, and it was running rough, and the code it was throwing said it was the egr valve, but it didnt wind up being that. Its an easy fix, except the price of the egr, if thats what it was. But in my blazer, the two fuel lines going into the spider intake were cracked, causing the truck run rough, smoke, and use lots of gas. Now that fix is complicated but if the egr does't fix it, thats probably the culprite.

Plan on changing it at least a month before your next inspection so that your on-board computer will have cleared itself. They are usually located somewhere on the intake manifold and are held by 2-3 cap screws. Probably metric.

Do some shopping. autopartswarehouse.com or partstrain.com. They have good OEM stuff and shipping is free when the order is over fifty bucks.

The EGR is easy to replace depending on were it is, you should replace it if it is effecting your cars drivability or you need a smog check
