6x + 24 = 6(x + 4)

Find the common factor of (6x+24) and well, take it out ("factor it out").

So it is 6, thus,: 6(x+4).

If you can't see it off the bat you can try it in smaller steps. For example everyones favorite test number is two, so:
2(3x+12)
But you can also notice that there is still a factor of 3.
so [(2)(3)](x+4)
And multiply the content in the [ ]
6(x+4).

Take out the greatest common factor.

Factors of 6 are 2&3, 6&1 and 24 is 6&4, etc.
So, 6 is the greatest common factor
6(x+4)
Just to check, 6 times x is equal to 6x, and 6 times 4 is equal to 24.

well, you find a 'common factor' between the 2 numbers, 6 and 24.

In this case it is 6.

Put the 6 outside the brackets...
6

So how many times does 6 go into 6? Once, of course... [x is the same as 1x)...
6 (x

How many times does 6 go into 24? 4 times...
6(x+4)

And that is how you factorise.

Now if you expand that bracket you will find that it equals 6x+24.

I hope that this has helped.

K first you need to deal with the numbers.
What is the biggest number that goes into 6 & 24?
Once you've worked it out put the number outside the brackets.
Then you need to think what number do i times it by to get 6x. So if 6 is outside the brackets *hint*hint*! you would put x because 6 multiplied by x =6x
Next how many times does 6 go into 24. Put the answer at the end

...(x+..answer u get at end...)

Hope this helps
x

6x + 24 = 6x + 6*4 = 6(x+4)

simply find a common factor.

6x + 24

you see the both numbers are a factor of 6? so you take out 6 (from 6x and 24)and put it infront like this:

6(x+4).

If all you need to do is factor it, thats your answer.

Look at 6x and 24 and see if they are divisible by any common numbers.

The most apparent answer is 6 - since both 6 and 24 are divisible by 6.

So that gives us 6(x+4)
