because we are special, not everyone IS one or get to BE one, and you have to pay your dues to get here, and we often face challenges in life the younguns dont and think wont happen to them ROFLMAO

And its a good place to be, off the beaten track and kind of more private - those who care find us and are welcomed with a smile so I dont see it as a bad thing

You'd have to ask Yahoo. If you're an American with a disability, housing assistance groups you with seniors, in HUD, Rural Housing, or Section 8. Maybe Yahoo took their idea from Washington. Also, legislatve and other news commonly groups Medicare and healthcare issues as senior issues, rather than as senior and disability issues.

Among the online choices for seniors is eons.com, and there's a new, year-old "Retirement TV" channel gaining momentum, broadcast by DirectTV as channel 364, though not on my dish in my region yet.

We're just lucky I guess ! Society is made up of humans and I think that's what we all are here , at least I think most of us are. We aren't all seniors on this site either, but so what ! We exchange thoughts and ideas and maybe once in a while someone is helped in a small way. We all enjoy humour and share things we find on the net with this group. What's not to love?

Maybe Yahoo! is made up of young whipper-snappers who think seniors are "different". We are. We are "special"!

It is a strange place to put us. I had a really hard time finding the seniors site. It's too deep in "Society and Culture". In fact, I wouldn't even think of going there, but I kekpt searching then I added it to my favorites. Seniors should be a group by itself so it's easier to find.

We are a very special group. We seem to trust each other and have mutual respect. Many of us have become friends outside of this site. I have learned a lot about myself and grown very special feelings for other seniors. We are fun, too!

Perhaps someone at G.E. could answer this for the rest of us to know too...so far...they haven't turned out the lights yet, but I think the bulbs are definately starting to dim in some areas of Society & Culture in every corner of the entire planet. Culture, what is that anyway? Society...I won't go there. I could get violated & have to start all over again!

Most people in the UK stop work at 60 and a lot of them before that age. I am a senior and I have a lot of pains and aches, never had them when I was young, but Ive sure got them now. My eyesight is going along with my hips, my back gives me a lot of pain
I like to come on Q&A to hear all the news.
I have worked all my life I and I feel I deserve a rest, and I am a bit disabled. I don't think anyone who is not a pensioner,
should be allowed to come into the seniors and tell us we are not spelling to suit her I mean who does she think she is.

They didn't know what catagorey to put us under. Disabled people and Seniors may share some of the same issues. And I guess we're all a part of society, have you a problem with being in the same catagorey with disabled people?

Because we are all here in the back where it is a little more quiet. Ocasionally a troll drops by to try to stir up the pot, but we pick up on them pretty fast and it doesn't last for long.
We are just here minding our own business, anybody is welcome to drop by, as long as they are cordial and polite. But get out of hand and your looking for an A-- wooping.
We've been around too long and know a lot more to put up with such goings on.

I have wondered about that myself. I finally decided the Yahoo! Answers management team figured Senior Citizens were a distinct group of people who would benefit from exchanging information with each other.

What is your opinion?

Besides what others have answered, I will also add tolerance.
We are ourselves here, we joke, we care, & understand.
This group is more diverse then you may know or even believe.
We have all the other categories rolled into one, right here.
But the best thing about this site & the new one is: We really do care about each other & show respect.

Trying to understand the logic of the way YH runs their site, we would need to get the best brains on the planet together, for a month.

And even they might come up with a thumbs down. Wary, tired and totally confused.

We are a special "GROUP, and we do WELCOME the visitors.
