I still don't understand when China /stopped/ being a superpower. I seem to remember the US, USSR, and China all being considered superpowers. I can see demoting Russia after the end of the Cold War, but China has only grown stronger. Plus, the EU is pretty close to making the grade, too, IMHO.

China will be a superpower in 20 years that will be able to project it's self. In 50 years troop quality may surpass that of the US or at least equal it.

Most probably because it's becoming more of a socialist state rather than a communist state everday. It's economy is booming and without an idea of where you are if you were placed there, you'd believe the country was capitalist without a doubt- new housing and raging growth of the industrial areas is converting China from rich to richer, private companies which benefit China are allowedopen to the public by the Chinese government.

apparently you have been in prison for the past 25 years. CHINA is a superpower and the communist regime of china is being funded greatly by the United States. 9 out of ten items purchased from walmart each day was made in CHINA. if you are a US citizen 90 cents of the dollar you spend at walmart goes to the Communist Republic of China.

China is THE superpower now. I've answered a question about this recently. You Americans are so unaware of what is going on in the world. China could bomb the US in to oblivion right now if it wanted to.
America has a huge national debt. That debt is owed to China. China's economy is growing rapidly and they hardly import anything but export everything. So don't complain too much about China's global dominance.

They are definitely an economic power right now, but with the amazingly high unemployment, meager wages, terrible pollution, and the crisis surrounding drinking water they are very ripe for another revolution.
I don't believe any country of that size, with such an overly large population can follow a singular economic or politicalpath for too long. The history of China is filled with failed and overturned dynasties.

Yes. Definatly yes. If it isn't a superpower yet, whatever your defininition of 'superpower' is China will definatly fufill a variation of that in 20 years. It's only a matter of time.

Do you mean:
"Will China become a superpower in the next 20 years?"
Probably not. Most Chinese cities, if I recall correctly, are pretty jam-packed with a high people per square foot ratio. This makes it quite easily to kill off a large amount of the population with any fast-spreading disease or a fast-acting chemical agent.

ummm what do you mean WILL? They have the capability to march 250 million soldiers today. Thanks to president clinton, they now have the ability to send ICBMS to our shores, they have a world class military port in Long Beach CA. They are unconcerned and unmentioned in the Kyoto Accords, so are able to mass produce anything theyd like and ARE...and due to him granting them Favored Nation status when it comes to trade they are able to flood our markets with the crap they produce... the price on oil and gas isnt going up because we ran out of oil fields, its because they entered the market! And they will never have a labor shortage because its the government that tells each individual what they are to do.. farm or be a factory worker... etc. With a billion people available. Id say theyve been a super power for quite some time.
