i know -- super silly question, but i have acne and was wondering since i take lots of natural vitamin suppliments, if they are allowed in jail under supervision or something? or what about my prescriptions? i take wellbutrin SR for depression. and not that i really care, but what about make up? it's mineral make up, so it's natural.

You need to check the rules for your local jail facility. I know that presecriptions are allowed in our jurisdiction, and vitamins and supplements are not. Prescriptions are allowed only under a doctor's supervision.

I've worked with the staff in 40 different jails and can tell you that the rules vary widely. It would be common in all jails that you'll be allowed the prescription medicine as long as the prescription is current. The staff will keep it and give it to you as prescribed. If you run out while you're in jail, they may require that you see the "jail doctor" to continue the medicine or they may have it refilled. The vitamins are probably not going to be allowed unless you have doctor's orders for them. Many jails allow make-up. I've even seen it allowed in prisons. It will increase your chances of getting to keep it if you bring brand new, sealed packages with you. Anything which can hide contraband is going to be questioned. Also, they restrict products which contain alcohol, even solid deodorants. Any items you bring which aren't allowed will probably be placed with your street clothes and returned to you when you're released. You're best bet is to call the jail and ask what their specific policies are.

If you have a prescription for Wellbutrin, you will not be allowed to take it in with you. However, the jail should provide you with the medicine you are prescribed. Vitamin supplements will not be allowed in, and they will not be dispensed to you. You will also not be allowed to take your own makeup in. . .I imagine you can purchase some makeup items from commissary.
Update: Yes, if you bring things with you that are not allowed in, they will take it from you, and you will get it back on your release. Just make sure to tell them everything you have with you.

You can take all of it with you, but the only thing that will be provided to you will be your prescribed perscription. This information will be provided and given to the medical department and they will give you your wellbutrin SR.
The other items that are not acceptable would be given to you once you have been released or given to another person that came with you (if available.)

generally, NO. and your family cant bring pills or potions to you. There is usually a doctor who can examine you in jail, and will write you new scripts if needed, but you will only recieve them as the staff dispenses them to you. And even then under strict supervision.

The prison medical staff will determine what scripts you need and will provide them. Bringing your own drugs to jail would be a security threat .Relax and take your shoes off. Start some deep breathing exercises.

I don't know what is allowed in your area but want to tell you that I am sorry that you have to do jail time, that it goes quickly for you, and that when you finish your sentence you can get back into society without returning to jail. Good luck.

None of that will be allowed except the prescriptions. You will turn over your prescribed medication and it will be administered to you in the medical area. You will not be allowed to posses any pills regardless of the contents.
