Asians are intelligent and have few problems, and don't need excuses like oppression and racism for their failures.

This is a bit of a loaded question, because one can't say good things about Asian people, without sounding a little bit negative about other racial groups who are considered disadvantaged minorities. I work in a county social services position, and we have people who are disadvantaged who are from all races. I am surprised at your statement, as i would think that affirmative action would cover Asian people in the United States as well. Anyone who is different can be discriminated against, and i know some Asians who have had to deal with this.

They actually are covered by AA with the exception of collegiate applications in CA because universities there do not adhere to the program.
They may have been disrespected, I'm certainly not making light of their situation, but there was nothing to legally bar them from progression as there was nothing to legally bar southern and eastern Europeans and the Irish when they came over though they had a rough go of it as well. Though the Chinese have been in the US since the 19th century, the Japanese and other ethnicities did not really begin arriving until the 20th century and, in the case of Japan at least, emigration laws only allowed their best and brightest to emigrate. Obviously, this makes a tremendous amount of difference and is in sharp contrast with everyone else who came to the US - even whts. This is probably part of the reason why they don't, on a whole, just outperform other minorities, they outperform the majority as well.
It's a mistake to think that they don't face the same discrimination and lack of understanding that all racial minorities face. They have their struggles too.

The main difference between Asians and other ethnic minorities in the US is that Asians are recent immigrants to the US. They are typically first and second generation immigrants who have already built their wealth in their home country. They also do not have a history of systematic and legal oppression in the US. Asians do not have their historical roots in the US. So in reality, the situations of Asians and those of African Americans and Hispanics are totally and completely different.
Also note that women are "covered" by Affirmative Action programs. And Affirmative Action is a touchy subject because most Americans don't even know what it really is beyond what they've been told by the media which is innacurate.

because people think that all asians are smart, which is not true, and most asians come to america and go to college and make something of themselves, so there is no need for them to use affirmative action programs

100 years ago -- when there were no blacks in California -- Asians also faced discrimination, rejection, and hatred.
Plus, I can think of at least two Asian males killed by a racists - Nazi in recent years, they still face a glass ceiling in work in spite of out performing whites in school, they still face police abuse ( I can think of at least 2 Asians killed by police in my area in recent years ) and lets not forget the "Stockton Schoolyard Massacre" ( when an white angry about their presence shot into a schoolyard of Asians kids ) , so don't say they have completely made it.
A lot of their acceptance depends on whites focusing most of their hatred towards black folk.

More out of choice not to be considered a minority; they are hard working, have a solid network among them as specific asian groups; and take pride in earning everything they have in America, even if it means taking advantage of the system.
Blacks were never given the choice to return to Africa. Asians did have that choice and opted to live in America with so many of them well-established and educated.
