It was founded in 966, but Miesko the First, the first king of POland, who unified the Lechitic Slavic tribes, and adopted Christianity.

Poland was created probably around the year 700- 800, by the ancestors of the first Christian ruler - Mieszko 1. Being Christian (baptized in 966) meant he was recorded in Church archives, but we know of several before him.

took over by force from a previous ruler called Popiel (in English that means "maker of ashes"- sounds like a nasty guy)
Ziemowit was the son of Piast. Piast and Popiel were probably brothers (could be different mothers), fathered by Choscisko, son of Lech

poland was never losted
it was gone for few years but it was combined with other country( dont remember the name)
