bronnimoose - .I wasn't trying to be smug about it, I was merely doing a poll to see how many people support the cause. there seem to be so many charities asking for donations these days that I wondered if perhaps some of the 'traditional' charities were missing out. I'm sorry If I came across that way.

yes and will also turn out to watch the marches on rememberance day to support the veterans, TA and cadets. Am going to take my 6yr old son this yr too, think he's old enough to gain a little knowledge about the reasons we buy and wear poppies.

I have, too! But I'm in Canada, so I support the Royal Canadian Legion. I don't just buy/pay once, but everytime I see a veteran or supporter selling poppies, I contribute to their fund.

ADDITIONAL: Who the heck is giving Thumbs Down? Someone without a sense of appreciation for what soldiers past and present have fought for and gone through, obviously! Thumbs Down to you!

TIP TO KEEP POPPY IN PLACE: I've been using part of an eraser to help keep my poppy in place. Either I cut the eraser from the top of a pencil, or I cut off a piece of a regular eraser. Works wonders (and I don't get jabbed by the needle)!

MY neighbour who is 89 comes round each year, with her poppies,
proudly wearing her many medals that she received, during the last war.
when she was nineteen she was dropped in France and fought with the french resistance movement.

Yes I will and am proud to wear it. Just one question that always has niggled me. Years ago I was told only a very small percentage from the sale of these poppies go to the cause. Does anyone know if this is correct? I hope not.

i got mine last week then today i noticed that they are selling poppy pin badges so i got 2,one for me and one for my husband, who is ex-military.also when i was buying mine a lady next to me was pinning a poppy on her young sons coat and explaining the reasons why we wear them, which i think is very important,we must never forget and must pass this on to future generations.also i didn't think you sounded smug.

Do so every year, but this year I feel as though I`ve robbed the RBL. When I was working I had to buy one nearly every day, because I kept losing them, but I`ll make sure I have a new one for next Sunday.

Yes, but the seller was asked to move on about 10minutes later!

Apparently some of the ethnic minorities of WOKING dont like the cause and objected so he was told to move from outside next to the war memorial to inside in the shopping centre!

And Please go on to the MFI website and either send a e-mail or call their head office on 0208 200 8000 and FORCE THEM to hold 1min Silence on Sunday as they are saying they are refusing to take part.
(I work there)
