Open the manual in your glove compartment to the specifications pages. Or look up oil. If I'm not mistaken most exotic European cars suggest using 5W-40.
It flows quicker when cold so your car will start easier. It changes viscosity to a normal 40 weight oil when the motor is at full operating temperature in hot weather.

I apologize. I just ran your car through the Mobil website and for your year, make and model BMW they call for 10W-40

Can I put a 10 30 when it says 5 30

Yes it is OK. Most cars use 10W30, the newer cars use 5w20 but you can look in the owners manual or call BMW as well. Good Luck and God Bless
