This is simple - Buffett has paid off enough of Washington to ensure his various tax breaks for being too wealthy will continue. His donations(bribes) to the various politicians keep his low taxation rate going indefinitely. This is how the US Govt operates. If you pay enough $$$ to the politicians you can do whatever you want. Big corporations run the nation - as well as a few uber wealthy people like Buffett.
We the People have NO VOICE in Washington. Prove I am wrong - you can't. And don't tell me my power to vote is my voice...that is pure BS. Congress and the current president have done nothing at all to help the People. The next president will do the same amount of nothing. Our govt is pathetic and needs to be completely replaced.

Because 20% of the 100 million that he made last year is 20 million in taxes. The 33% of the $45000 that his secretary paid last year is 14 thousand. It would take 1400 people paying the same as his secretary to match what he put in. Are you saying that 1 person should have to put in that much more just because he made 1400 times the amount?

Because regressive taxes like Social Security top out at an income level above what I make in a year, but far, below what he pulls in from investments every minute or two.

Jimmy Buffet? I do like Jimmy Buffett - everyone should pay less taxes.
I don't care if you're rich. Less taxes for everyone.

It's the gift that the republicans gave all their cronies. Buffett is just one in a million with a conscience.

that's not true...since he owns his own company he can declare how much he pays himself...determining his tax bracket...the taxes he is paying is capital gains taxes and similar taxes which is lower than the taxes we pay(income taxes)....two very different taxes. so the story is not fair in portraying what is really happening.

Cause he gets his money from dividends and gains, it's not counted the same as income. Why doesn't he just pay whatever he thinks he should and shut-up?
