America is massively hypocritical in this respect.

They are very happy to support terrorism when it just means people in other countries being blown up but when it hits home (like it did on 9/11) just how horrible it is to see your very own innocent civillians slaughtered by someone who has a grudge against your government, they kick off major big time and declare "War on Terror"

If "billy m" thinks slaughtering innocent civillian women and children is "rightly showing their concerns " then he needs to stop taking whatever drug he is on and thank his lucky stars that *his* loved ones weren't in the vicinity when an IRA bomb went off. Bombs don't discriminate.

Because they are an insular nation who are protected from the truth by their power crazed government. Although many Americans claim irish ancestory they know no more than that and have no idea how terrible the situation in Northern Ireland got. I have a good friend who is Irish and a bit of a hard man. On a trip to New York he went for a drink in an Irish bar. With his accent just assumed he was pro IRA and started singing various IRA songs. He kicked off because although Catholic his family were totally opposed to what had gone on mainly becaused they'd witnessed it first hand and lost family to the IRA. There are several New Yorkers that have now been educated but we still have a long way to go. the hardest thing of all is that Americans have been raised on this twisting of the truth from an early age and their response to the truth is often disbelief and aggression.

1. Problems in Ireland, the Irish connection.
2. Problems in the Middle East, the Jewish connection.
3. Problems elsewhere in the world, the oil connection.
Conclusion, interference on a grand scale in order to maintain world domination.

As for the alleged special relationship between the U S and the U K, why did they have their nuclear missiles aimed at the U K during the seventies and eighties?
As for terrorism they invented it, they thrive on it and get upset when the American dream is exposed as a fraud.

Well they used to be fighting the Soviet Union. Which back then gave them our full support by every party, Democrats and Republicans alike voted to help Bin-Laden with money and weapons. Now when they attack us, it becomes a War on Terror because they commited an act of Terrorism on our soil.

The US government has long supported terrorism in states where it did not approve of the government. Iran, most of central America, Chile, half of Africa, Northern Ireland, former Soviet Union.

And it continues to do so. War on terror? Only when and where it suits them.

Because American foreign policy is always influenced by factors internal to domestic politics. The Irish American vote is very influential, and thus fund raising for the Republican cause was tolerated by successive administrations so as to not alienate that particular constituency.

The American definition of terror appears to be anyone who doesn't agree with them i.e. if your politics lie anywhere to the left of Genghis Khan you're fair game.
