my daughter is going to be one on the 27th of this month and she weighs 22lbs....do you think its too soon to let her ride forward facing in her carseat?.....fyi: she was born a month early last yr...but weighed 6lbs and 11ounces then, and has always been fine. shes crawling pulling up, and starting to cruise.

Keep her rear facing for as long as the car seat will allow.

"Rear-facing is the safest position the child can ride in. It is strongly recommended that all children stay rear-facing beyond the minimum requirements of 1 year and 20 lbs. Children should not be turned forward-facing until they reach the maximum rear-facing limits of a convertible seat (that allows rear-facing to at least 30 lbs). These limits are either the maximum rear-facing weight limit or when the top of their head is within one inch of the top of the seat shell, whichever comes first. While most parents are aware that they must keep their children rear-facing "until they are AT LEAST 1 year old AND 20 lbs", very few are told that there are significant safety benefits when a child remains rear-facing as long as the seat allows. For most children, rear-facing can and should continue well into the second year of life."

What are the requirements on your front facing carseat. Mine was 20 pounds and 1 year, so I would say yes. My daughter was little so I had to wait until she was 18 months to turn her around. Good luck!

Most likely she would be fine. But I think this is a question best suited for your pediatrician. What happens if you take my advice, and I'm wrong.

My son was huge and very strong (holding his head up and sitting up) much before his 1st bday. I placed him forward facing at 11 months.
He was fine.
We also barely ride in the car.

I would flip her around, but I know I tried a day early and the guy almost refused to do it. I told him it was not a big deal and that I would come back in a couple of days. However, he did end up doing it for me. My little one loves facing forward so much more to see.

Well since it's standard.. 20 lbs. AND 1 year, you'd better wait until she turns a year old. You might get sited if you are stopped.

Wait for the 27th to be on the safe side.

You could probably turn her around, but why not wait? She will really be better off the longer that you leave her rear-facing.
