If the rich think they're paying too much in taxes, I'll swap them my annual salary for theirs, and they can rejoice in paying the lower taxes.

Top 5% own about 90% of the wealth, and pay about 75% of the taxes.
while the other 95% own 10% of the wealth, and pay 25% of the taxes.
Does not take a PhD in Math to see the problem with that. Then of course I did scew my numbers a bit to fit your claim when actually the 75% is closer to 61-63% and the 25% paid by the lower income earners, is more like 37-39%

errrrr, I think that the rich should pay a fair amount. If the top 5% hold 90% of the wealth, and I think it is near that, then why shouldn't they pay 80-90% of the taxes?
If you burden the middle class and below with the responsibility, you will end up causing a recession, because their dollars won't be available for consumerism.
ps: the Bush-Deathgrip guy hit a home run on this one.
I remember that $300 buyout of the middle class. What a joke. Here, I promise to return $300 to you, if you vote for me, and let me ruin the country. Greatest prostitution scam yet.

When Warren Buffet himself admits that he payed in one year the same taxes as his secretary, what does that tell you?
If Warren Buffet feels the rich don't pay enough then I tend to agree with him.
However, the sad part is the liberal agenda uses taxing the rich as a way to get elected. As a small business owner, the democrates found it possible to raise my taxes and enforce requirements on me that almost put me out of business in the past which would have left me and 11 employees unemployed. Luckily, I found exemption available through filing as a corporation that literally saved my small business and that had to be done in Nevada. Otherwise, California which has been pounded with liberal policy would have crippled me.
Small business is hanging on by the skin of it's teeth. Anymore attacks on middle america will kill it. I am afraid to vote democrat because of it because I do not believe they are going to reserve further taxes only for the super wealthy at all. They never have in the past. We see those taxes in other forms coming from the states.

That's tax base, but that isn't the amount they pay in taxes.
They should be paying what they did in the 1950's. The poor pay far too many taxes and so does the middle class these days in the form of sales tax, real estate tax, and other fees that are charged them for government services including the DMV etc. They pay far more taxes in proportion to their income than the rich does in proportion to their income. Your post really doesn't make much sense when compared to the realities of middle class life.

The issue at hand is not the absolute dollar value paid to the government, it's the relative value (i.e., percentage of income) that is important. Here's a simple example:
If I make $10,000 annually and pay 20% in taxes, for example, then I'm paying $2000 to the government each year (1/5th of my income). In other words, one out of every 5 days I work for free for the federal government.
If you make $1,000,000 annually and pay 20% in taxes, you would be paying $200,000 to the government (1/5th of your income). In other words, one out of every 5 days you would work for free for the federal government.
Yet, you would still be paying ONE HUNDRED TIMES the amount of money that I pay to the federal government, which is fair since you make one hundred times more money than I do. The "rich" would still pay the vast majority of tax dollars if a flat tax, such as the above example, were used.
However, in the current system, I would pay 15%, and you would pay 40-50% of your income. That means every other day you work, you're doing it for free. Plus, in the above example, despite the fact that you only make one hundred times more than me, you'd be paying almost SEVEN HUNDRED TIMES what I would pay. Plus, once you make over around $100,000 a year, which is what some union factory workers make, you lose almost all o f your deductions (loan interest, children, etc.)....
How is that fair? Everyone has forgotten simple percentage calculations. If you give X% of your money to the government each year, it's the same sacrifice relative to your income whether you make $10 million a year or $10 thousand a year.
Stop listening to the ever-so-popular babble about "tax breaks for the rich" that try to get votes b/c no one thinks they're "rich." But, in reality, a large portion of the middle class is considered "rich" by the federal government--i.e. YOU'RE who they're talking about!!!
Stop being bitter towards those who have succeeded in life, and work hard to succeed yourself. Don't penalize them out of envy. They worked hard to get to where they are.
P.S. My annual income is FAR below "rich." I don't even fall into middle class income. I'm in the lowest tax bracket. But if I do one day become financially successful and achieve the American dream, I shouldn't be punished in a capitalist society.

Facts don't matter to liberals. They want the government to run everything. Liberals want to run the government. "Rich versus poor" is just one gimmick in the liberals' play book.
