Yeah, I'm guessing some sort of plankton too (blue-green algea, maybe?). They make most of the oxygen after all.

Plankton is far from being a single species. I don't know of a single species that all life hinges upon. However, every species is important in the total balance.

Probably not,but if all bacteria died, then all other life probably wouldn't exist.Bacteria is thought of in terms of strains though, not species. It's the most successful thing on the planet. We tend to think of bacteria as just a bad thing but believe it or not,it's what makes the chlorophyll in plants and trees that allow us to breath. It's responsible for much good in terms of living things.(there are many species of plankton by the way)(there are also different species of bees)

Einstein said that if bees died out the human race would only last another 4 years, modern scientists have revised this up to 6 years!

It's all very well to hand pollinate, but we would never manage to hand pollinate the millions of acres of agricultural land needed for crops to feed livestock and humans!

Quite scary is the fact that the USA is currently going through a major bee crisis - billions are dying due to a mystery virus. Let's hope they find a cure soon.

Nope. No single species, fortunately.

not really.

With bee's gone it makes it more difficult to pollinate things but not impossible (there's a village in china where they do all the pollinate by hand)
