The flower pin had a black center w/ red petals & a green leaf. I've seen other political figures wear it on other occasions. What does it mean?

Any links w/ more information would be appreciated.

Thanks hrh_23 for the web site. It was very informative.

I live in the United States & watched the opening of Parliament on C-Span this morning.

In the U.S. we have Veterans' Day but we do not wear red poppies.

its a red poppy worn around this time for 11th hour of 11 day of 11th month for the war

it`s a poppy to comemerate the brave service men and civillians who have given their lifes `that we may live`.the tradition of the poppy is from `flanders` a battle field in ww1.the first flowers to grow back being the poppies`a field of blood`
they are worn till remembrance sunday nov 11th.

It is called a poppy.worn to remember all the ones who died while serving for there country.

My GOD... just how BAD is the education system in AmeriKa when they don't teach about ARMISTICE DAY... you DO know what ARMISTICE DAY IS... I HOPE.!
