The lyrics seem to be about a porpoise? That is just a little weird, were they smokin rope?

So this aint the end -
I saw you again today
I had to turn my heart away
Smiled like the sun -
Kisses for real
And tales - it never fails!

You lying so low in the weeds
I bet you gonna ambush me
Youd have me down down down down on my knees
Now wouldnt you, barracuda?

Back over time we were all
Trying for free
You met the porpoise and me
No right no wrong, selling a song-
A name, whisper game.

If the real thing dont do the trick
You better make up something quick
You gonna burn burn burn burn it to the wick
Ooooooh, barracuda?

Sell me sell you the porpoise said
Dive down deep down to save my head
You...i think you got the blues too.

All that night and all the next
Swam without looking back
Made for the western pools - silly fools!

If the real thing dont do the trick
No, you better make up something quick
You gonna burn burn burn burn it to the wick
Ooooooohhhh, barra barracuda

Here's what I remember hearing back in the 1970s when this song came out. There was a rumor floating around that Ann and Nancy Wilson, who are sisters, were actually lovers. Reporters used to ask them how their lovers were doing and Ann would say that he was doing fine. At that time, both Ann and Nancy were romantically involved with the Fisher brothers. Roger was a guitarist with the band and Mike (who was Ann's lover) managed the group. One time, Ann was asked this question and she gave her usual answer but this time the reporter persisted and asked about her relationship with her sister. Ann got really angry and wrote this song.in response.

I think it's saying that freedom is a mental state which can be learned and helps you to get up again, even if you feel like a metaphorical angel with broken wings
