LONG story short:

broke into my job a few months after i was fired. i still had the key and still knew the alarm code, so i didn't use any force to the building. the women who knew i did it, (boss and boss's best friend) came down to my home and went through ALL of my stuff and took EVERYTHING that even looked like it could have come from the store. a lot of it was mine that i had purchased either from there before i worked there, or from other stores! i can't prove what was mine, and they can't really either because they hand write all their receipts and are really unorganized. she totaled it at $3,400, but like i said, a lot of the stuff was mine and can't be proven either way.

i see an officer tomorrow.. i know it's a felony and i'm probably going to be put in jail straight away.. right? also, how long will i go to jail for this with a previously clean record and diagnosed anxiety/addiction/depression? also, i spent about 5 months this year going through CD treatment.

they contacted my mother, since i had just moved back home, because a couple months after i was fired, i was kicked out of the house i was living in. i was living in the upstairs of one of those same women's house, and she kicked me out for quote "bringing bad energy around". that was it! i hardly was ever there anyways!! they disliked me because of a relationship that i started and am still in. so the "bad energy" i brought around was litterally LOVE. sorry, had to vent a little on that. anyways -- my mother was the one who let them in. i had no choice but to fess up. thanks for your input everyone. i'm ready to face charges, but i'm probably going to lose the wonderful job i just got since moving back home, and my life once again has to be put on hold!! "jails, institutions, and death".. maybe those AA and NA meetings were right..! who knew..

one last thing -- everything that i knew was mine i spoke up about, but they said "you can't prove that!" and still took it, even though i knew i had purchased it.

Being a felony, at least a year. The other part of the discussion about depression is irrelevant.

I wouldn't bring up the CD or the depression. I'd get an attorney to help me reduce the charge to a misdemeanor to which I would plead no contest. You should be able to get off with probation.

You might not be fit to be tried also, it will hard to get anything back, but you shouldn't have let her in your home in the first place.

Also they need records to match what was stolen and proof they bought it so you may have some say in getting some of your stuff back.

If they create records that is fraud so you can contact the company(s) listed to verify if they in fact did actually sell them those goods you'll like need a subpoena for that, Good luck.

Um, I would get myself a good attorney. You can probably get off with probation or something. You could have possibly denied the whole thing, but since you let them into your house, you kind of screwed yourself. I might still try to deny the whole thing if they had no proof or evidence.

How long you go to jail for depends on the judge you draw.

Why did you let them go through all your stuff? What you did was wrong and illegal but it's hard to say what was stolen by you and what you allowed them to take.
