The U.S. Presidential Election will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. The primaries begin January 3, 2008 in Iowa, that is why the candidates are campaigning now.

Your state will hold a primary for the republican election near the beginning of next year.... ... THEN... next November the country will be voting on our next president (but only 2 candidates, one from each politically controlled empire)
