for class, I need to imitate a person. My teacher suggested Martin Luther King, or Annie (the play). any suggestions?

Choose someone you can relate with, but who's personality stand out, so that it is obvious that you are imitating them. By relating with them, you should have an easier time expressing their beliefs. By choosing someone with a strong personality, it should be easier to show who you are.

It should be someone that other people can figure out, right? It would be hard to imitate an actor because we usually don't know what they're like in real life, only who they portray on the screen. Pick someone of historical significance or someone from a movie that most people would know; I agree with your teacher's recommendations as well. Or one of these:

Rosa Parks
Carrie
Norman Bates
Abraham Lincoln
Mary Katherine Gallagher (from SNL - "Superstar!")
Bob Barker
