Unfortunately, yes. Two Evils seem to be the only thing the two party system has to offer these days.

I think that this is the current state of things with the two party system that's in place in our country. There is so much money involved now with campaigning that outsiders are marginalized to the point that they have no voice. The same money machine dictates that the candidates appeal to the majority of the voting public, so apart from a few platform planks the candidates share a lot of the same goals and beliefs. You might as well close your eyes when you pull the lever, because you can be sure whatever the outcome you are voting for evil. Just cross your fingers that it was the lesser one.

That seems to be what they've been doing since I started paying attention in 1964. I prefer to leave it blank or write in a name rather than vote for someone who I am not convinced is qualified for the job. I used to write in "No Acceptable Candidate" but I learned that was getting my whole ballot tossed....

Generally, yes. After all, consider what makes a person want an elective position. We like to believe in noble motives in our favorite candidate to the extent possible, but that still doesn't say anything about the motives of their campaign managers, professional consultants, etc., etc., etc.

Yes. Our politics have become less about making the candidate look good and more about making the other guy look bad.
