Have you ever left your keys in your front door overnight?
I have twice, two nights in a row. Luckily, my storm door was locked so nobody could have opened it, but, that is freaky. Can you share your experiences? When you watch a scary movie, do you check your doors more than once? (I know, that was another question). Just wondered. I do.

I did that once - years ago. Had come home with my arms full of bags, etc. and inadvertently left the keys in the door. I no longer do that - I have a hook next to my door where my keys go and every night without fail I check it to make sure the keys are there...and I stopped watching scary movies! lOL

I have left my keys in the door over night before. Nothing happened, though. We were robbed last year while we were sleeping. Our lab was sleeping, too! Now we keep all our doors locked. I had left my purse in the kitchen, now I keep it by my bed. I usually do check the doors more than once. Take care and be careful. Love Granny

I have done that more then once and even when I was younger. I don't think it has much to do with age just lack of concentration. Luckily someone has come in the house (friend) and brought my keys in with them.
I don't hardly ever check my doors but that comes from living on a military base(false security) and a small town.

Yes, I did that one night and found them in the door the next morning. I've also locked the door just to wake up and find it wasn't shut. lol Yeah, those scary movies do want to make me double check the doors. Thing is in the movies the 'bad guy' is usually already in the house, so I'd just be looking us in together. lol

No, I haven't but last night I went out for the first time in 4 years, YES 4 years! with the girls from work. When I got home, I couldn't get my key to turn in the front door. HE, my dearest, beloved had left his keys, on the inside of the door.
No way could I get in so I knocked, hard, on the door. This woke the dog up, shocked him awake with the barking and HE came to the door and said 'who is it' (he was disorientated) I said " it's me, let me in 'cos it's freezing"
I try not to watch scary movies 'cos they frighten me!

I haven't left my keys in the front door but I did leave my car keys dangling from the trunk of my car all day long. Didn't even miss them until I got ready to go home from work. Guess no one wanted my old car that day!

I don't bother to lock my doors so I have never had that happen. I own 3 big dogs so I really don't worry about people breaking in, and they're nice to have around when watching scary movies.

I never locked doors in the 70's and I was single. One night about midnight I heard my door open, footsteps and a loud voice "anybody home, where's the party" I jumped out of bed, ran into the hall to meet a young guy standing with two six packs of beer in his hands! "Who are you?/Who are YOU? I'm here for the party."..my 9 yr old son stepped from his bedroom with his 22 rifle ready for bear (he was and is quite a marksman) the guy started backing out apologizing with each step. That little "wake up call" put me on to the idea of locking doors at night. My little son was "man of the house" that night.
