I think it's fine. My husband has three brothers and we named one of our sons Jacob after his brother. None of them felt offended that the baby wasn't named after them. I think it's fine!

Honestly, I would avoid opening this Pandora's box. It's possible that no one would be offended, but more than likely they will assume you are naming him after your brother, and someone will get hurt feeling...then when you explain that you aren't naming him for your brother, then your brother might get HIS feelings hurt. You just can't win here.
Find another name that you and your husband can both love. I'm sure there is at least one more out there. Good luck.

Good question! It would really depend on your personal situation and how you think your own family might respond. Personally, I wouldn't want to offend the other five, so I'd likely just look for something I liked equally that wasn't so problematic. However, if you think they might be fine with it, I'd likely just have a talk with the whole lot of them and let them know you love the name itself, and while the fact that it's one of your brothers' is an added bonus, you didn't choose it for that reason alone and want to be sure ahead of time there'd be no hurt feelings if you used it. Simple as that. :)
Good luck!

I don't think it would be a problem. I know your brother Adam would be honored. I know you love the name, but is it a family tradition to name your children after other family members? It is in mine, and if it is in yours, that may make it easier....

I dont think they will be offended but at family functions your son will always be Little Adam so get used to nicknames. Thats what happened in my family and my husband's when children got named for aunts and uncles.

I think your brothers will get over it. If you love the name that is all that matters. As long as you arent playing favs and are naming the baby that because you just love the name. Good luck and congrats

I dont think they would mind. Especially if you aren't naming it after your brother. Im sure there'd be some animosity there but not to worry they'd get over it.
