I can when it comes to anything in the home. I can have a drink in one hand and a ciggie in the other! Only joking people!
At work though, I have discovered that I cannot chat to customers and count out change at the same time. It's so embarrasing because I have always been on the ball. I never used to look on the till for the amount of change to be given 'cos being of the 'old school' I would just count it back to myself. Now, I look , to double check, and I wonder if my grey matter is disappearing faster than I thought.

With all the medications Pain Management has me on multi-tasking is almost a thing of the past... I was very good at it for quite a while... I worked in the hospitality field... restaurant and bar management, GW can relate I'm sure... you have a crew of 27, 7 or 8 cash registers going a night, a crowd of 1,000 and all your business is done from a desk in the stock room, unless you had to replace one of your people, or a few of them for that matter! Compound this with working overseas and converting foreign money biased on the daily exchange rate, and you've got your hands full, also a check cashing facility for either American or foreign $$ and ya... there was one hell of a lot of multi-tasking going on. This is, not to mention the occasional person (roflmaf) that had had to much to drink... and decided to preform some outlandish feat!
Today... I don't even want to balance my own check book!

No, I won't fly less. I just last week flew into Kansas City and got back today. It was a nice flight both ways, especially since I didn't have to make conections. I had my iPod with me, or visited with people. I don't think I will stop flying since my daughter lives in Missouri and I am in Oregon. We have driven back there so many times with the camper and it takes so long, we have seen the scenery. By flying, I have more visiting time than spending four days on the road to get there and four days coming home. It seemed like a short flight when not making connections. First time I have been able to fly anyplace without making connections, so I will fly with the same airlines next year if the kids can't come back this way for some reason. I do agree with the person above that said at the airport it is more of a hassle taking our shoes off, or any metal. I also carry shots with me so they see the needles in my purse and are curious. I have to carry my shots in my purse as when I need them, I need them right now. Oh well, At the distance I go, right now, I would prefer flying until I start feeling better.

I have always be a multi task person. I've worked at different jobs where I had to do several things at a time and I liked that, within reason. Being a homemaker I rarely do one thing at a time. I actually get more accomplished when I know there's more that needs done. If it's bothering you, you may want to ask your dr. if you could have a vitamin deficiency or something simple like that that's causing the change in you.

I suppose if they split the cost of the supplies, then they might not have to do it all themselves! Some can & some do. Personally, I don't appreciate it when the cashier just hands me the change & expects me to take it & go, while they are telling me how much I saved & making sure to circle that amount on my receipt, which they have placed OVER my money, as it is handed back to me...then the bagger wants to know if I want paper or plastic & the music has a blown speaker & there is some type of sticky stuff all over the check-out belt. I enjoy the parting statement by the store employee who asks, "Do you want help out with that?" Multi tasking would force me to have to show them my vehicle & wait for them to follow me, so I go it alone. I hope I understood your question & answered it in a way that was helpful.

I can, I have been a multi tasker all my life, talk to one person while listening to another, and getting the paperwork done at the same time.

I have always wondered to at some people cooking only one thing at a time instead of having 3 pots going, making sauce that you have to stir so it doesnt burn AND getting the veggies done and the shrimp peeled while chopping up the garlic and talking on the phone to someone and keeping an eye on the kids and what they are watching on TV .

I think women are used to multi tasking, these days I prefer not to - but can when I have to

At work I have to multi-task (nursing in a dementia unit, you are dealing with multiple situations all the time.) Most of the time I'm OK, ie with the personal interaction, being aware of safety situations, giving the right drugs even whilst being constantly interrupted. The "biggie" for me is my writing, We do a huge amount of hand writing in my job ( the powers that be are not interested in putting us online). I used to be the best writer on the block, always really neat and readable...not any more ! Its like a spider walked over the page with ink on its feet, and I constantly miss out letters. Its really embarrassing. I used to think my mother was "losing it" when her letters started looking messy and she'd misspell words. Now, its me doing it. Hallelujah, age is knocking on my door !

I can pat my head and rub my stomach at the same time , does that count.Or listen to my wife, pat the dog, eat my cornflakes and do the crossword all at the same time, is that what you mean? But I can't cut the lawn, trim the hedge and clean the windows at the same time, although my wife thinks I should.

Not all us old farts are married and have to do half a dozen things at a time and keep all the balls in the air.
If that ain't multi-tasking I don't know what is.

Yes I can - but not quite as fast as I used to! Not working any more - so all multi-tasking gets done at home!

Never been able to multi-task except while cooking.

I couldn't even listen to the radio while studying.

With me, it's not the age, it's just me.

Example, someone is ringing my phone right now, and I messed up while typing this.

P.S. Joking or not, I must have a cup of coffee with my cigarette before I can even wake up enough to concentrate. LOL.
