In most mainstream porn media you see all these very made up women, with fake boobs and lipo-created bodies, dyed hair, etc.. but the men they are with in the movies are so much older, out of shape and flabby, have little to no handsome redeeming features. Is this a double standard? Where are all the sexy straight men in porn? And are there any real, average looking chicks at all?

porn is, more or less, made for men. that is why there are no atractive men, and no unatractive women (even though i think many of the women are not that attractive, not not horrible)

It is because it does not pay a lot, there are thousands of guys that want to get into it. The only ones that make it are the guys that can get it up and keep it up, mostly ugly because nobody cares, they are looking at the chicks. The chicks are a dime a dozen. The good looking male porn stars end up doing gay flicks. It pays a lot more because the gays are looking at them. They may be straight, but for the big bucks they do what they have to do.

They aren't taken on for their looks, they are taken on if they can "perform" on camera, not that many people could actually do it in front of a lot of others.

because most porn is made for men. so, for straight men watching porn, they are looking for the women. plus, studies have shown that men are much more aroused by visual stimuli than women, who are more aroused by the circumstances (soft music, romance, etc). male porn stars are often hired for their size, so average looks are ok.
but, there are gorgeous guys in gay porn, because again, the audience intended are men. so, they are also aroused by visual stimuli.
