There seems to be a couple of different collections of the original, first Half Life for PC game. Which has the most maps? I'm not really interested in team play if this makes a difference.

Half-Life Platinum has the original game as well as the expansions Opposing Force, Blue Shift, and multiplayer games team fortress and counter strike (the originals).
I'm not sure what you mean by "more maps" because there aren't any extra maps for single player campaigns, but the multiplayer games are updated by steam and extra maps are free to download from servers in game (if you join a game and don't have the map it is automatically downloaded and saved).
If you buy the game discs (rather than on steam) you should know that a large amount of updating will need to happen if you intend to play online. Just let it download overnight.
