Hi.

Over two months ago, I bought a RuneScape account for $200 on craigslist.org. Over a few e-mails and telephone calls, he met up at my place and we traded.

He told me I had a two-week warranty if anything goes wrong or if I get hacked.

Now [two months later], my account is hacked and I'm assuming it's him who took it back.

I only have his cell phone, home phone, and email.
Do I have a right to sue?

Thanks,
Kevin.

EDIT: Know that it's against RuneScape's rule to real-life trade.

Can I sue for my money back?

You have made a mistake in the first place with buying the account. I believe you have no right to sue. That is because you did not sign any paperwork stating that he is not allowed to get it back using his recovery question. Also, if you do sue.. You won't get anything because it is against runescape rules to buy ther account in the first place. You sadly lost your money.. You took the risk yourself when you bought the account.

Well you could try but you'd be standing in front of a judge admitting to buying stolen property since all accounts are property of jagex. Your likely to not only lose your money & court costs but have additional fines as well. Its against Jagex rules for a reason.

That was stupid.

I don't think it would stand in court since you violated the TOS, and I think jagex claims ownership of all accounts or osmething like that, its pretty confusing

no you can't sue him because it's agianst the rule for selling and buying an account and also because the warranty passed and because you don't have enough evidence its him

If you can somehow prove that he did it, then yes. However, you will probably not be allowed get on Runescape from your current ip address.
