The direct injection will become necessary for Honda to meet the 2010 CO2 emissions standards so the answer is 2010 at the latest; It may be possible to see it introduced in 2009 on one or two models but its unlikely as there have been no announcements other than the 2010 introduction to comply with the CO2 regulations.

Right now all of the manufacturers are ramping up on this direct injection technology as it is a 'lean-burn' system that reduces CO2 emissions by as much as 13% while affording gains in fuel economy. The barrier right now is expense and a supply of parts for the mass produced market. So don't expect to see it on a Honda near you until 2010.
