job, he must have thought he was capable enough to be the manager for a big market team like the Yankees. Why does he agree to a coaching job instead of trying to get a manager for another team in the American League? Why did Mattingly and Larry Bowa go to the Dodgers with Joe Torres? How many games will the Dodgers win next year?

personally i dont think the odgers will do as well as everyone thinks. i dont thik torre is as good of a mnager as everyone thinks...he had 12 years w/ the yanks where he had an all-star calliber team every season - not the case in LA ... I think anyone ca win in NY cause the boss will get players he wants or needs...money is no object.
mattingly and bowa went becuse they liked coaching with torre. bowa will prob become bench coach which is better tha he would be on any other team...if he came back to the Ynaks hed go back as 3rd base coach.
mattingly i think was hurt a bit cause the whole idea was that when joe left mattingly would become new manager, plus he too loved torre. and his son preston mattingly is part of the dodgers minor league system as well, so that is extra incentive for him.

Mattingly if the future may be the Dodgers Next Manager and because of his respect for Joe Torre

I think that Mattingly wasn't necessarily mad at the Yankees, but i think he still wanted to coach under Joe Torre so he went to manage in LA. same with Larry Bowa. Mat tingly interviewed the day after Girardi interviewed.

I think that all the Yankee coaches have become weary of all the crappola dealt to them by the Yankee higher management. If I were them I'd get out of that dung heap of an organization too. Don't have an exact answer for part 2, but it will be more than those prima donna Yanks.

MAttingly didn't see it as appropriate for him to stay and coach under Girardi. So he continues to work under Torre AND his son Preston is one of the Dodgers' better prospects.

he is following torre, he will not look right in the dodger blue since he has been a career yankee. Dodgers win 84 games.

Why would anyone want Mattingly as a manager? The Yanks interviewed him because he is Mister Yankee, to other teams he has little experience

He took it because he didn't want to be unemployed. Same with Bowa. What other team in the AL do you want him to manage...
