I am 5'7, my daughter's dad is 6'0. I stopped growing when I was 14, was pretty tall for that age. However, her dad did not grow much until he turned 14. Well, my daughter is 11 years old and 4'5. She is the shortest in her school. I am concerend because she has not grown an inch for past few months. She has no health problem , her delivery was normal as well. She has normal weight. Should I be concern?

Your height and her father's height indicate she will probably end up at least your height. At 11, her body is still maturing and she probably will hit a growth spurt shortly. Your doctor can order X-rays to determine how much growth her bones have left and if human growth hormone would be of benifit to her or not. There is nothing wrong with being short so whatever you do, do not make her height, a concern, or your daughter will get the wrong message. Visit naturescorner.com, my website.

First of all take your daughter to her doctor and they can determine if further tests are needed. X-rays can show if her growth plates are closing prematurely. If there is a problem it's always better to find it early. If you both were on the shorter side then you would have your answer, but being the heights you and your husband are would prompt me to take a visit to the doctor. Try not to worry though I myself was only 4'11 in 9th grade. I'm not tall now but I am a normal height at 5'3 (petite but normal lol) Best of luck!!!

No health problem then you have the right to celebrate. Tell her to enjoy being the lovely little petite angel of her group. Her DNA combo will determine her height. She may get another growth spurt and other than a good nutritional complete diet, there is nothing you can do about it.

Just celebrate that she is healthy and hopefully happy. Try not to let your concern transfer to her. She should enjoy who she is.

I know how you feel. My 16 year old is 4'8" while my 18 year old is 6'0". The difference is in the "gene"s. My grandmother's were short in stature and that is who my 16 year old resembles the most. Just appreciate her for who she is, and be there to help her up when kids tease her. My daughter has finally adjusted to being the shortest in school and often smile and says "cute little ol me" and means it.

Why would this be a concern if she's only 11? She still has at least 7 years of growing. Don't rush her Mom, you'll be sorry when she's taller than you and you're looking up at her! ;o)

My youngest niece is your daughter's age and only a couple of inches taller. She'll be just fine. Enjoy them while you can still embrace them!

No you shouldn't be concerned, as many children don't hit puberty until they are around 12-13 years old. Best of luck!

No. She might just be growing differently. I am 5'1 and my parents are 5'6 and 5'9. It all just depends on the person. She still has time to grow being she is only 11.

tell her most boys don't like tall girls anyway,,, they like short petiet girls. and it's true, with some exceptions of course, i am 5'1", and my hubby is 6' 4" and he wouldn't have it any other way.
most men prefer women they can envelope in their arms.
