This was the story that got me hooked on Fantasy/Sci-Fi which of course is not his main 'forte'. But that cheap Mass Market paperback was one I didn't put down for 3 days(no easy task for somebody with attention issues).

I thought "Eyes" was excellent. The thought I had was that he had written it as a bedtime story to his kids. Its was superb fantasy from cover to cover. Its too bad he hasn't done anything like that since.

It is indeed...
I used to like King, and many of his older works should still be considered some of the best horror novels of our time, but King "Jumped the shark" sometime around the fourth book of his "Dark Tower" series.
The first three books were great... Then King seems to have "lost his damn mind," and most of what I've read of his work after that is incoherent rambling... Somebody told me he got hit by a van.

to be honest, The Eyes of the Dragon was the first Stephen King novel I read. It depends on you personally, but in my opinion it was definitely not his best. There are some incredibly long novels, but if you're looking for something that's not too long, try Salem's Lot or even Cell... still your typically wonderful Stephen King :)

I liked this book a lot actually and although it isn't his normal field he did a really good job in that genre. If you like king's style you should try the Gunslinger series. If you like sword and sorcery, check out Jennifer Roberson's Sword Dancer series.
